Throughout her career, Dr. Sotgia has focused on the tumor microenvironment's role in cancer progression. Her research has provided genetic evidence that enhanced glycolysis in stromal cells supports tumorigenesis. Additionally, she has investigated the metabolic requirements of tumor-initiating cells and explored the repositioning of FDA-approved drugs to target these cells effectively.
