Drug Repurposing & Discovery
Drug repurposing and discovery are key strategies utilized by our scientists at Lunella for identifying new treatments for extending healthy lifespan and turning cancer into a treatable disease. This approach accelerates the process of finding effective therapies, often for diseases with unmet medical needs, by leveraging existing safety data and targeting new mechanisms of action with a focus on targeting the mitochondria.
Cellular Senescence
Our scientists are developing new senotherapies aimed at combating age-related diseases and extending healthy lifespan by preventing cells from becoming senescent and removing already senescent cells. By reducing senescence our research aims to reduce inflammation, improve tissue/organ function, and delay the onset of chronic conditions associated with aging.
Mitochondrial Targeting
Mitochondrial dysfunction, characterized by impaired energy production and increased oxidative stress, plays a central role in the development of various age-related diseases and degenerative conditions. By targeting mitochondrial repair and enhancing their function, our research aims to improve cellular health, slow aging, and treat disorders linked to energy deficiencies.
Cancer Stem Cells
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subpopulation of tumor cells with self-renewal capabilities and resistance to conventional treatments, making them key drivers of cancer relapse and metastasis. Targeting CSCs offers a promising approach to improving cancer therapy by eradicating the root source of tumor growth and preventing recurrence.
